Die Bergsteigerdörfer Schleching und Sachrang liegen tief eingebettet in den Chiemgauer Alpen, südlich des Chiemsees. Umgeben sind die Bergsteigerdörfer von einer lieblichen Voralpenlandschaft mit saftigen Wiesen, bewaldeten Voralpengipfeln und den typischen schroffen Gipelstöcken der nördlichen Kalkalpen. Verbindendes Element beider Orte ist der bekannteste Berg des Chiemgaus: der Geigelstein (1.808m).
